Last weekend, I had the pleasure of being a vendor at a local all-day crop. I didn't know a single person when I showed up, but felt like I had made several new friends by the end of the day. The ladies I met were so friendly and creative, and I loved hearing the stories behind their designs. Here is one set of ladies participating in my Make & Take activity. Joy (front right) and her two daughters (Laura seated next to her, and Jan on the far left) were enjoying a family day of crafting! With Jackie added to the mix, we had such a fun time together!
One of the Make & Take activities that I offered to the attendees was a two-page layout using Close to My Heart's Lollydoodle line. The actual layout is based on page 22 of the Spring/Summer Idea Book (or Pattern 6 in Make it From the Heart: Vol. 2).
When I created the design, I didn't have specific pictures in mind. However, I came upon these pictures of my daughter from 5 years ago (that hadn't been scrapbooked yet!) and knew I had to use them. My daughter's face in this picture of her jumping on our trampoline epitomizes "Pure Joy!" The fact that she was wearing pink and green was an added bonus!
The sentiment stamp (Pure Joy) is from the Ivy Lane Workshop on the Go Stamp Set. I added a couple Flamingo adhesive dots to jazz it up a bit. The shapes were cut from CTMH's Artiste Cartridge.
The journaling tag was cut using CTMH's Artiste cartridge. The triangle polka-dot stamp is also from the Ivy Lane Workshop Stamp Set and was stamped in Juniper ink. The edge was embellished with a few pieces of Silver Shimmer Trim (one of my favorite CTMH supplies!) and another flamingo dot.
Once my pictures were in place, I felt the layout needed a little "something" added to it. I decided to attach a couple butterflies to the layout to tie in the one on her shirt. These were cut from the CTMH Art Philsophy Cricut Cartridge.
I wish that I had taken a picture of the end products that each person created. The four girls at this table created four different layouts! I encouraged them to make it their own and rearrange things or use the provided supplies in a different way. I loved watching them take my creation and making it their own!

ABC Blog Hop - Letter "J"
Welcome to the Everything ABC's Blog Hop!
For this hop we will be featuring the letter J. This may be the name of a paper, a stamp set or an embellishment. Whatever the crafter has chosen as their J element will be featured in their post.
If you have just hopped onto my blog, please start at the beginning at Linda's blog ~ Scrappy Therapy.
If you came from Lauren Moore at CTMH Craftings, then you're on the right track!
I decided to combine several "J" elements to make a Birthday Card. I used Juniper cardstock, Jubilee paper and the Joyful Birthday stamp set! The yellow patterned paper (the focal design was handcut from the larger paper sheet) is from the Jubilee paper pack.
For the basic layout of my card, I used Pattern 23 in the Make it from Your Heart: Volume 2 book. If you aren't familiar with these books, they are a great resource for scrapbooking and card making. They provide you with a great starting point by showing general scrapbook and card patterns (and examples based on those patterns). I accented the card with a strip of Smoothie cardstock, and some rhinestones for bling!
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed my "J" creation. Here is a list of Close to my Heart supplies used for this card:
9042 - Make it from Your Heart Volume 2
X7181B - Jubilee Paper Packet
X7183B - Lollydoodle Paper Packet

Z1752 - Sparkles Clear Assortment
X254 - White Value Pack Cards and Envelopes
Z2713 - Slate Exclusive Inks Stamp Pad

Welcome to the May edition of the Technique Blog Hop. This month, we are focusing on the Base & Bling line offered by Close to my Heart. These items are designed to be used to create jewelry (as seen previously in my Base & Bling Jewelry Bar). We were challenged to use any item(s) from this line in a non-jewelry project. If you are coming from Terry's blog, you are on the right track.

Retired Stamp Set: Scrapbook Statements - Poets
All items can be purchased by visiting my CTMH website.
Thanks for stopping by! Head on over to Debi's blog to see what creative ideas she had for Base & Bling. Here is the full list of participants:

Part of the line includes 1" x 1" stickers that are meant to be applied inside a pendant, then covered with a glass piece. The stickers on each sheet coordinate nicely together in terms of style and color. I decided to use 3 stickers from the Dreamer Style Sheet to create a card. I used a sentiment from a retired CTMH stamp set, Scrapbook Statements - Poets. I just love this quote and think this would make a wonderful graduation card!

ABC Blog Hop - Letter "F"
Welcome to the Everything ABC's Blog Hop!
For this hop we will be featuring the letter F. This may be the name of a paper, a stamp set or an embellishment. Whatever the crafter has chosen as their F element will be featured in their post.
If you have just hopped onto my blog, please start at the beginning at Linda's blog ~ Scrappy Therapy
If you came from Judy Faye Garner at Judy Faye's Place, then you're on the right track!
For the letter F, I chose to use Close To My Heart's 6" x 12" Flip Flaps. I came across a version of this on Pinterest, and thought it would be a great way to add more photos plus an interactive element to my layouts! The original post is from Janene Wawro over at Create with Janene.
These pictures were taken by a photographer friend a few years ago. We only had a mini session shoot, but we stayed for about an hour afterwards checking out the location. I had such a great time capturing my family in exploration mode! The more formal portraits are on the front two pages of the layout.
But if you lift up the two flaps over the right page......
You will discover the "Behind the Scenes" pictures - an entire 12" x 24" layout tucked away back here!
To create these folds, I used 2 of the 6" x 12" Memory Protectors Flip Flaps. I trimmed the end of the overhang a little bit (maybe 1/8") just to minimize the extra plastic. The flap on the left (top image) was just attached over the edge of the 12" x 12" page protector. For the right flap (bottom image), I folded it back on itself and attached it to the edge of the 12" x 12" protector. You will see a very slight opaqueness to the edge of your layout, but as you can see in the image on the far right, it does not impact the pictures at all.
The Sarita Paper Pack was a perfect color palette for our pictures! Here are all the layouts out of the page protectors so you can see them glare-free!
I topped the page off with embellishments from the Sarita Assortment (the wooden shapes as well as the antique gold medallions on the title page)! The little swirls and the brads are all from the retired Mini-Medly Accents Collection in Antiqued Gold. The gold background shapes and the colonial white title box for the "Behind the Scenes" title were cut from CTMH's Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge.
This little embellishment was made using CTMH's Artbooking Cricut cartridge. The backpiece is cut from Crème Brulee cardstock and the overlay is cut from Goldrush cardstock.
Thanks for checking out my newest layout! Here is a list of the Close To My Heart Supplies Used:

Product Spotlight: 5" x 7" Hinged Display Tray
Last November, I was able to capture an adorable picture of my two kids, my niece and nephew stacked in a pile of oldest to youngest. They also posed in a picture with their Great-Aunt. She doesn't have any children of her own, so my children and their cousins are very close to her.
For her birthday, I wanted to create a special keepsake for her including these two pictures. I immediately thought of Close to My Heart's 5" x 7" Hinged Photo Display. There are 7 opening for either pictures or décor elements. I chose to include the two pictures from November as well as one of my two kids and one of my niece and nephew. All pictures were secured into the display tray using Liquid Glass.
In the bottom left opening, I wanted to include a sentiment from the Family Love stamp set. I used the Smokey Plum ink to stamp the sentiment onto Champagne cardstock. The background paper as well as the Ivy Lane Purple strip are from the Ivy Lane Paper Packet. To add a little sparkle to the sentiment, I placed an itty bitty sparkle onto the circle in the center of the stamp. The sentiment is popped up using 3D foam tape for extra dimension. In the upper right opening, I used Smokey Plum ink to stamp the word "Aunt" with the Vogue Alphabet set. The shape is cut from the CTMH Cricut Artiste Cartridge out of Champagne cardstock. It is also popped up using the 3D foam tape. The background paper is from the Ivy Lane Paper Packet, and I added a little strip of Hollyhock cardstock to add contrast. I flanked the edges of the Hollyhock paper with a row of itty bitty sparkles.
For the remaining section, I really wanted to include a paper rose. I have seen lots of people make these, but was very intimidated to try my own! I found a video tutorial by another CTMH Consultant, Cathy Derouche, that gave me great ideas and the confidence I needed to get started. I didn't have all the tools that she uses in her video, but was able to adapt other tools I own to get the job done. I used the CTMH Artiste Cricut Cartridge to cut the main portion of the rose. As recommended in the video, I cut two flat flower shapes from the CTMH Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge to add a few extra petals to the outside. I love how the rose turned out!
The background paper and the two little strips are all from the Ivy Lane Paper Packet. I added a small sparkle from the clear assortment to the center of the rose, then added a clear sparkle flourish coming out of the bottom right of the rose.
I'd love to help you create your own Hinged Display! I can also put together a kit for purchase if you are interested in creating the display as shown. Contact me for more information.
